Why Ampere?
Ampere is fast becoming the biggest founder-focused events company in Sheffield and South Yorkshire. With our unwavering commitment to guiding the most valuable asset in the ecosystem (the Founder) we have begun to assemble a fantastic collective of entrepreneurs from the region.
Yes, Ampere provides educational events and curates a space where Founders come together and sparks fly, but Ampere is more than just this. Ampere is on a mission to assist the growth of Startups in the region. We share our network of investors and network of talent to build greater opportunities for all in South Yorkshire. We know strong Startups mean a strong region and Ampere is dedicated to usher in the new golden era for Sheffield and South Yorkshire.

Sshh… Sheffield is the secret startup capital of the UK. With South Yorkshire the Tuscany to it’s Florence. The open, accepting and creative culture find highly creative founders and their creations flocking to the region. The advantageous cost of living and connection to nature has talented young people putting home ownership on their 5yr plan as they join exciting “change the world” companies.
Sheffield is the underdog of the UK, but when it comes to tech it’s all substance and no hype. Our Region and Sheffield have innovation, creativity, collaboration and community in our bones. We want to make Sheffield the number-one place to start a company in the UK!

Ampere is an events and acceleration company based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and North Derbyshire that aims to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the North of England. We run a monthly speaker series called “By Founders, For Founders” that brings together founders and entrepreneurs to network, share knowledge, and support one another. Twice a year, we host a large cross-sector Staff Party that sparks new connections and collaborations across industries. We also organise customised events in partnership with other organisations to foster innovation and boost ambition in the regions.

At Ampere Events, we believe in the power of community, collaboration, and continuous learning. Ampere values diversity, inclusion, and broad participation across industries. We are motivated by our mission to raise the ambition ceiling in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and North Derbyshire through open knowledge sharing, integrated growth, and a supportive founder network.

Our goal is to build a tightly-knit community of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and Northern Derbyshire founders and change-makers who lift each other up, learn from failures, and celebrate wins together. Moreover, we believe that by connecting creative, ambitious people across sectors, we can inaugurate a culture of collaboration that drives inclusive economic growth in the Northern ecosystem.

Meet the founding team of Ampere.
PETER HOPTON
FOUNDER & CONVENER AND CHEIF
Founder of VeryPC, Iceotope, and Ampere Events, Peter knows first-hand the intricacies of the Founder’s journey. Currently, Peter is accelerating a cluster of startups under his Limited, Red Paisley.
These startups include Productive Machines, BOW, and Simultac. Pete has great experience, both first-hand and in supporting others. Pete specialises in the high-tech digital infrastructure sector, predominantly at the seed and early growth stages.
With his experience and expertise in founding, scaling and exiting companies, Peter is now turning his attention to adding value across the ecosystem in his beloved home of South Yorkshire.
NICK DYTCZAK MIDWORTH
ASSOCIATE
Nick, with first-class honours in Politics BA (University of Sheffield) and over two years of events management in the performing and musical arts, is responsible for events coordination, marketing and business development.
Nick is also engaged in work for the various companies within Red Paisley, performing tasks such as market research, investor portfolio development, and digital media.
A budding entrepreneur, overseeing the operational management of Ampere Events under the stewardship of his mentor; Peter Hopton.
